How to Play the Wales Lottery

The game works like a subscription lottery. To play, you have to register and complete an application form. Provide contact details and specify how many entries you would like to purchase. It costs £1 per entry and you have to be at least 16 years of age to take part. You can purchase Wales Lottery entries via debit/credit card or by cheque.

You will then receive confirmation of the first draw you have entered and be given your game number. Each entry consists of a unique, randomly-generated six-digit number. You will keep the same game number for as long as you are a member and you will continue to pay £1 a week for each entry you have. There is a minimum payment of £13, and you will be notified when your credit starts to run low.

Prizes and Odds of Winning

Draws take place on a Friday. A winning six-digit number is announced and you win prizes depending on how many of the numbers you match in the right position.

If your six-digit number matches the winning number exactly, you win the weekly jackpot of £25,000. You can also win prizes for matching three, four or five of the digits in the right place. If your number is 123456, for example, you would receive a prize if the winning number is 173051, because you would match three of the digits in the correct place (1*3*5*).

Take a look at the prizes on offer in every Wales Lottery draw, as well as the odds of winning:

Numbers Matched (in the right place) Prize Odds of Winning
Match 6 £25,000 1 in 1,000,000
Match 5 £1,000 1 in 18,518
Match 4 £25 1 in 823
Match 3 5 entries for the next draw 1 in 69

Check the Results page soon after the draw takes place to see if you have won a Wales Lottery prize.

Winnings will be paid straight to you if you win. You will be issued with a prize cheque, which will be sent to you in the post.
